There's a fine line between the professional and the personal for me since many of the people I photograph have either become friends or are people I'm fascinated by and whose company I enjoy. It sometimes occurs to me that presenting their pictures without any commentary only tells part of the story - and yet too much of the story can threaten the simplicity and purity of the images.
A photograph of someone's body is part of a bigger picture that includes personality, emotions, thoughts, feelings and experiences. The bodies that you see in my portfolio aren't intended to be islands, set apart and distinct from the personalities that inhabit them. But presenting them without commentary allows you to follow along whatever path the images inspire you to follow, and I'm just fine with that.
I have a great reverence for the people who allow me to photograph their bodies and I consider my work with them a privilege. Their stories are as important to me as their bodies and hopefully some of that comes across in the images we've created together.
