I've been working as a photographer in Southern California since the early eighties and like most photographers I started out shooting any and everything that would pay a buck just so I could stay in the game.

Almost from the time I first picked up a camera to start shooting professionaly I've been pointing it towards people and their bodies. And that's where my real passion is found when it comes to photography even though I've done a lot of other kinds of work along the way.

I grew up in Rome  and have been going back there to live off and on ever since. As a kid in Italy and Europe I was surrounded on all sides by beautiful bodies and the paintings and sculptures of them that were in the museums, on chapel ceilings and in the fields around our villa outside of Rome. My family's frequent travels to countries like Turkey and Greece and other European countries filled me with a love of beautiful and endlessly changing imagery that I began capturing with a little Kodak Instamatic when I was eight.

It was when I was in my late twenties and living back in Rome teaching piano lessons and studying music that I realized that my passion for creating photographic images needed to shift from hobby to career. So I moved to Hollywood, invested in some serious equipment and started calling myself a photographer. The journey from there to here has been an extraordinary one as I've continued indulging my passion for photographing interesting people and the worlds they inhabit.

My Nikkor 105 1.8 lens is my most prized piece of photographic equipment and is the lens through which I began to see people in a way that completely changed my work as both a photographer and an artist. Thanks to my friend Eleanor and a circuitous chain of events the lens is still in my possession and helping me do what I do best, twenty-five years after I first purchased it.

Photography is more than just a job for me - it's a form of personal and artistic expression that speaks clearly as to what's going on inside of me most of the time. Photographing people has given my life richness, color and texture and these images are a way of sharing the wealth.
